Black India
Originally a punk rock band known as The Punch-Drunks, Black India morphed into an ambient project. Various 4-track recordings were made since 1999 and were included on the album Sleep. It was released on the bands label Scary Weather Records in 2001. Jared quit shortly after its release. A second album, Sunday EP, was released in early 2002.
In late 2002, both Jeff and Justin left to concentrate on their full time punk rock bands whilst Chris carried on Black India by himself. Another release, disguised as a collection of various "found" recordings called Joyfoot Experimental Volume 1 was released shortly thereafter.
In early 2004, Chris began work on a new Black India album to have been called New Violence. It was never finished. Also unfinished was Magnet Rock which was to be a concept album set to have been released in 2006.
In February 2007, a Black India collection called Anthology: 2001-2007, was released by Virginia based indie label 434 Noise. It consists of select tracks from the (out of print) Sleep, Sunday EP, and Joyfoot Experimental albums. Also included are unreleased tracks and one song a piece from the unfinished New Violence and Magnet Rock albums.
Black India is currently on indefinite hiatus.
