Black Fedora
Death is a door, time is but a window.
Band/artist history
In 1996, Adam Bickers and Lloyd Bonson decided to form a band, named Masquerade. However, after the band started at College, they fell apart, the band going their separate ways.
In September 1997, a new band emerged from the ashes of Masquerade. Project X was originally a studio-based project, with a variety of members (including most of Masquerade and HME) sharing vocal and instrumental duties. They were orginally scheduled to go into the studio to record an album of Bonson/White songs entitled "Out Of The Darkness", but the idea was scrapped. The band changed to a solid line-up of Jim Sadler (vocals), Adam Bickers (lead guitar/vocals), Lloyd Bonson (keyboards/vocals), Ian Aberdien (rhythm guitar/vocals), Mike Higgins (bass) and Rowland Whiskin (drums). The band played several gigs around Thurrock, but Jim, Lloyd and Rowland left the band in June 1998.
The remaining members decided to continue, Ian moved to lead vocals, and the band used a drum machine programmed by Adam instead of a drummer, and they recorded the demo, Distrust. The tape was released in August. Black Fedora finally split in September, when Adam and Mike started degrees at Southampton University.
In December 1998, the band discussed a possible reunion, but the idea was scrapped. However, in December 1999, the band decided to reform for a one-off performance at the Thurrock Music Festival 2000. Black Fedora finally called it a day afterwards.
The Distrust demo tape is now available in mp3 format here.
