About Blackett
Born in North East England, she attended the renowned Goldsmith College in London, known for producing a variety of artistic talent ranging from fashion designers Mary Quant and Vivien Westwood through to the world of music with John Cale, founding member of the legendary Velvet Underground, Damon Albarn,Alex James and Graham Coxon from Blur to name but a few. Determined to make her mark musically she took herself on the road clocking up the miles gigging regularly in the UK & Europe. This was to finally pay off when she was spotted by successful production duo,PoweRHousE, who subsequently began to work with her. The first recordings done with PoweRHousE brought attention initially from the music industry outside the UK,where she was doing the majority of her live shows. Now her talents are beginning to be recognised both in the UK and worldwide.
She is being talked about as one of the most promising young UK female rock artists, drawing comparisons with Debbie Harry in her formative years. Blackett has remain unfazed by the comparison and compliments, and has recently stated, that while she is extremely flattered to be compared to such an icon, that she will be following her individual musical path.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Well it all started with me doing small gigs in the UK, and going unnoticed, then one night i was spotted by Powerhouse, its a production, publishing and management company. They were interested in working with me, so I started working with them. from day one in the studio it really started working well and felt good. Working with people who believe in you is always a good feeling, they allow me to express my music in the way i want to do.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
