Binky Sphinx
Binky Sphinx was created in a Nazi laboratory by imprisoned Jewish engineers in 1944. He was and is the only surviving subject of experiments to design genetically engineered "super singers" created to infiltrate American popular culture.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In the waning days of the second World War, Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's henchman in charge of Nazi propaganda and head Aryan cheerleader hatched a devious plot to secretly infiltrate and sabotage American popular culture in an effort to destabilize the morale of the enemy and hopefully provide the Nazis with counter intelligence by slipping moles into the US Army's USO program.
With Hitler's approval, Goebbels persuaded captured Jewish engineers within Nazi laboratories to create an elite force of genetically engineered super singers designed to look, act, sing and dance as good as, if not better, than the contemporary American entertainers of the time.
According to accounts by engineers on the project that were freed during the Allied invasion of Berlin, Goebbels ordered the laboratory and its subjects destroyed as the allied forces advanced on the Reichstag... Only one subject somehow survived, Subject TW-9872, code named: Binky Sphinx.
Documents found at the laboratory indicate that Sphinx was ordered for transportion in cryogenic suspension to Brazil. It is believed that sometime in the early 70's Binky was reanimated during a failed attempt by the evil Dr. Josef Mengele to clone Hitler and renew the Nazi quest for global domination. It's reported that Binky, realizing the circumstances of his orgins, rose against The evil Mengele and foiled his plans, helping the anti-facist underground resistance in Brazil to destroy the machinery used to create the Hitler clones and vanquish the evil Doctor once and for all. Aimless, lost in the Brazilian Amazon, and living in a world full of depressing melodies, Binky returned to Mengele's abandoned jungle laboratory and managed to put himself back into cryogenic stasis. Binky would mysteriously resurface once again in South East Asia in 2005.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Binky Sphinx is still recovering from his revival from cryogenic stasis and is now approximately 33 years old in biological terms. He is currently somewhere at an undisclosed location in South East Asia performing live in Chinese Karaoke bars and maintaining as low a profile as an entertainer possibly can as he continues his own internal struggle battling the demons brought on by the realization of his origins as a Nazi experiment gone awry.
Your musical influences
During his initial indoctrination in the 40's, The genetically engineered Binky was subjected to toxic levels of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby... Enough to kill any regular man.
Later, in the 1970's, Dr. Mengele force fed Sphinx such an incredible dose of Tom Jone's Greatest Hits that it somehow managed to chemically alter Sphinx's brain helping him to realize he was a simply being used as a pawn in an elaborate scheme to take over the world.
After reanimation in 2005, Binky has been heard singing in the style of Lionel Richie, George Michael, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Eric Clapton and other stars from the 60's 70's and 80's whom Binky believes are the last great soldiers of musical freedom before the third rise of the third musical reich would unleash their devilish boy/girl group demons in the 90's that now thrive in the world we live in today.
