Bill Seymour
I'm a songwriter in Nashville. My music ranges from country to southern rock to pop. I don't have aspirations of being an artist. I'll leave that up to the pros and hopefully get a cut or two one day. All songs here are copywrited by me and any other co-writers or publishers involved with any particular song. If you're an artist and want to cut one of my songs, please contact me for information regarding permission and licensing. Thanks!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been writing for about 3 or 4 years now, but more intensely the past couple. I have a publishing deal on one song currently, been offered contracts on several others, but declined. I've had my stuff pitched to artists like Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Randy Travis, Lonestar, Diamond Rio, and others. No cuts...yet. Also had some interest from indy bands, but declined as the songs were being pitched to the majors.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play writers nights in Nashville about once a week, mainly at the Commodore, Two Doors Down, and other random songwriter clubs. The coolest thing about doing it to me is when something I've written and performed touches someone in the audience...when someone comes up after a round and says "That song was about me. You said what I wish I could say." That makes all the other crap worth it for me.
Your musical influences
Anthony Smith, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Lynard Skynard, Brad Paisley, SRV, Alabama, Hank, Hank Jr., DAC, Jeffery Steele, lots more...
What equipment do you use?
I play a Takamine EAN10C and a Fatar Studiologic 88-key hammer action controller, record with a G4 tower, Garage Band, Cubase LE, Lexicon Omega Studio USB interface, AT 3035 condensor--none of which I operate very well.
Anything else?
My real job is in advertising--I own a small agency in Nashville and spend much of my time running the business, writing copy and producing TV, radio, print, and outdoor advertising.
