Bill Prewitt
Bill Prewitt was born in Oak Ridge, TN, grew up in Southern Ohio and has worked and wandered over most of the eastern half of the U.S.
Now a resident of Katy, TX, he is a member of The Blenders, five-piece band appearing regularly at Hickory Hollow in Houston.
He's also part of a fluid group called Austin County Ambush that meets Thursday nights at the Kenney Store in Kenney, TX.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The group at Kenney is an offshoot of a bluegrass group that meets weekly at Cochran, about 20 miles from Kenney. Jams have been going on at the store for about three years.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play the third Saturday of every month at Hickory Hollow, 101 Heights Blvd. in Houston.
Bill also is a regular nearly every Thursday night at the Kenney Area Rural Music Association (KARMA) jam at the Kenney Store.
Your musical influences
Eclectic. I once bought CDs of Haggard and Handel in the same music store order. Singing background includes the U.S. Navy's Bluejacket Choir and the Tampa Oratorio Society.
What equipment do you use?
Yamaha acoustic guitar (sometimes with a dean markley soundhole pickup), Squier Telecaster, Beltone 5-string banjo.
