My influences are, Miles Davis, Marley Marl, Prince, Premier, Mantronik, 45 King, Howie Tee, Pete Rock. Actually, I could go on and on and on.
What equipment do you use?
I used to use my Ensoniq EPS 16 +, but now I using Logic Platinum on my laptop, strictly.
Anything else?
I'm using a few sound libraries and soft synths, but you'll have to figure out which ones on your own. :)
