will post when time allows.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Sometimes you'll find some of our writers playing at "The Douglas Corner Cafe" in Nashville. It is the best songwriter club in town. The other place is great if your not really in the music bussiness or if your a tourist with a lot of money, just ask Garth,he got his break in Douglas Corner.
Your musical influences
Mine are Tony Arata,Hugh Prestwood,Jackson Browne,Jack Sundrud, all of the Eagles & Kevin Welch. As for music, I really like all types from Rock to Metal to Blues to Country to Classical,"It's all good".
What equipment do you use?
Gibson & Martin guitars,blah,blah,blah,
Anything else?
I wish every songwriter could get at least one cut from a real artist, hit or miss in their life time.It is a feeling of knowing you were right to keep at it.Never ask friends if your songs are good.Heres some things that only the professional writer will learn on their journey toward the charts.(1)Learn to listen to people talk.(2)Learn to take rejection well,I have gotten my best advise while being turned down.also they'll remember and let you back in to pitch again.(3)Know who your song fits before walking into a publishers office.Maybe they'll agree.Trust me if they like your song they will almost always ask.(4)Structure is only one of many ways to write a song,a really good song will be like life,it will live with or without structure and grow leggs and climb those charts no matter what.(5)Keep the ones you love close to you and never let your writing destroy your family,it's a balancing act to make it work but if your like me,I don't know how long I would last without eather one of my loves,my family,my friends & my music.
Write from the heart not the head and you'll never miss.
Good Luck Out There Writers.
