Big Sky Blues Band is based out of Missoula, MT and blends the digital world with the analog world to make an ambient blues/rock sound that is better defined as a mind expanding adventure. A well defined sound that delves into a broad spectrum of sound scapes and tonal quality of a large ambient symphony with the edginess of the blues. The band originated in 1978, but remained nameless until 2007.
Band/artist history
Allen Warren's blues roots stem from the road houses of Texas to the Mexico border towns. After relocating to Montana his music style expanded into the New Age sound of digital electronics and synthesizers. Ever searching for that perfect blend of the analog with the digital world to meld an atmosphere to carry the melodies of a crying guitar singing the blues.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Sometimes.....
Your musical influences
My main influence in music has been music. From classical to heavy metal and all points in between. I started my journey into sound at a young age back in 1970. Since that time I have delved into a lot of different sounds and a lot of different instruments, but I always seem to fall back to just the acoustic guitar and a single voice for solace. My favorite all time album is "The Wall" by Pink Floyd. That has been an inspiration to me since the first time I ever heard it. It has all of the sounds that I like and it tells a story as well. Well written, well recorded and a breakthrough in the term "Concept Album" Second favorite is "2112" by Rush. Also a great concept album. I have no idea what makes me tune up my guitar to start writing a song or fire up my Digital Audio Workstation to start recording a concept floating around in my thoughts, but I am going to keep doing it as long as I possibly can.
What equipment do you use?
Guitars, Vocals, Synthesizers and every other musical instrument that works in shaping sound.
