Big Daddy & Red Hot Java is a powerful four-piece Blues band (Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass & Backup VOcals, Drums & Percussion) playing original Blues tunes from our two critically acclaimed CDs, The 24th Hour and Firebrewed, tunes from our upcoming live and studio CDs, plus Blues classics performed with our own special flavor. Whether its for thousands of people at a large international Blues or Jazz festival, or at a small pub, we always deliver high-energy Progressive Urban Blues that will truly touch your heart.
Band/artist history
Formed in 1995. First CD "The 24th Hour" came out in 1996. Second CD "Firebrewed" released in 2001. Latest CDs (a live CD and a studio CD) to be released in 2006. We've had sixteen (16) drummers, but J. "General" Mills has held the chair for over five (5) years. We've had four bassists, but Michael "Gimmeno" Greif was the original bass player for four (4) years and has returned going on six (6) years. We've had four (4) lead guitarists, but are please to have Joel' Johnson for more than two (2) years. Lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and chief songwriter Randall "Big Daddy" Webster is the founder and leader of the band since its inception eleven years ago.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Mostly Jazz and Blues festivals in the Southeast USA and Europe. We've opend for B.B. King, The Doobie Brothers, Kool & THe Gang, The Allman Brothers, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, and many more.
Your musical influences
Robert Cray, Keb Mo, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, and Big Twist are major influences. We are very improvisational, pushing the Blues envelope, yet alway true to the roots.
