Big Chuco. The name says it all. Forget what you know about the west coast Latino hip-hop of yesterday, cause today it's all about the "Lifestyles of a Young Veterano", hittin' you with all the unique flavors of the Chicano/Latino experience. From the hard-core cholo, to the playa' homeboy, and from da' club scene to the street scene, this new album paves the way for future MC's to follow. Don't sleep on this latest work from Chuco - afterall, he's got 15 years into the game now, and it shows through in his latest full length album droppin in summer of 2004. The album showcases the diversity for which Latino rappers are not usually known - the album will impress you from beginning to end, and just when you thought you had heard it all..blam!, the next track will catch you by surprise. After a listen or two, you will understand the "lifestyle of a young veterano", - with enough wisdom to appeal to the old school, and plenty for the new school too. If you ask Chuco, he will tell you, "Latino hip-hop never was represented correctly, from way back in the day most of the west coast stuff was missing something. The political stuff was cool, but most of the commercial stuff was too soft and sweet, so now I'm back to do it right". And how he has. With a mix of Spanglish raps, R&B hooks, and melodic beats all on a foundation that is pure hip-hop, it's a sure hit with something to appeal to everybody. Originally part of the Brown Skin Artists crew back in the 90's, he's representin' on his own now, with a few guest appearances from fellow rappers Mr. Bago, Lil' Tut, and ........others hailing from the East Bay Berkeley area. Recorded and mixed in Oakland, CA, the record is a must-have for those looking for a real and refreshing approach to hip-hop, Big Chuco style!
Band/artist history
Biography of a Young Veterano Born Jorge Arturo Perez 10-7-74, Berkeley native Big Chuco was a first generation Chicano, growin’ up he exelled at sports but was never into school. He starte hangin’ and bangin’ with the homeboys at age 12( tryin’ to take after his older carnal too-tall) getting’ into fights, smokin’, drinkin, cuttin’ class. In high school Chuco wanted to play football but grades never allowed him to. Ever since he was in elementary Chuco had the gift of writing. At age 15 he started writing raps(influenced by n.w.a., too-short). He would record on his boom box and play it for the homies. He started rappin’ at house parties and at the kpfa’s legendary program “la onda bajita”. He hooked up with mr. Bago and created the B.S.A click (brown skin artist). Soon after Chuco’s release from jail, BSA released “Barrio Funk” an album which did very well on the underground scene! They did shows with aztlan nation, cypress hill, lighter shade of brown, frost, malo, tierra and other artist. BSA started recording there 2nd album, but due to personal differences Bago & Chuco parted ways. Late 2003 Chuco decided to get back in the rap game recording 14 tracks and even connected with his old school homie mr. Bago on a few rolas. This is Chuco’s first solo project (been past due) but he says it was worth it! “It was a challenge but being back in the studio was firme!” it took time, hard work & dedication but good things always do. So sit back crack open a corona (ice cold) with sal y limon, and enjoy Chuco’s latest work cuz’ it’s definitely gonna hit home!.......R.I.P CARLOS “CEVILLE” PEREZ, ALBERTO”PAYASO” PEREZ, ANTHONY REYNA, MARCO ANTONIO BAUTISTA..ONE LOVE FAMILY
