I don't know what to really say about this. it was a lot of fun writing the drums, but once again, i pushed all the levels and distorted a bunch of stuff out.
New Song 7 String Version New Song 7 String Version
this is really just a note pad for a new song. i'm rewriting the chorus: it reminds me of early machine head. you can def. hear all of the punches, but i do like the groove. a friend of mine wrote & played the beginning clean guitar.
Joy To The World (In A Minor) Joy To The World (In A Minor)
I really pushed the mix high and ended up with a lot of distortion. Joy to the world!

"Beneath The Spine Of Thought" isn't a band. It's just me. A John Taylor Experiment. It's a hobby more than anything else, but still, a hobby that I love. I'm always open to trying new music. I'm really into effects and am wanting to write more of an ambient style and at least one "electronic" type song. I def like the recording aspect more than the writing aspect.Band/artist history
The bands that had the most success would all be from Columbia, MO:
Throe
Sixty Cycle Hum
Kevorkian's Dream
Rhythm TempleHave you performed in front of an audience?I don't play live anymore. I don't really miss it a whole lot but I have great memories. I would like to play in a band again, though, with like-minded people. As far as special moments, I've probably played a couple hundred shows and they were all Awesome.
Your musical influences
There are so many influences. just talking about guitar influences me. right now, i am finding influences from music that i find all over the internet. I'm really into Nevermore & Dream Theater. I listen to a lot of death metal, technical, math... so many different styles. I would say that the driving force for how i write, though, is drums. I find that the most challenging. If i really got down to it, I don't think that are a lot of guitar players that influenced me except for George Lynch (Dokken), Warren Di Martini (Ratt) & Criss Oliva (Savatage). I think more bands as a collective shaped my sound & writing style. Testament, Alice In Chains, Children Of Bodom, Fates Warning, Iron Maiden, Priest, Lamb Of God, Machine Head, Metallica & Megadeth, Queensryche, Strapping Young Lad & finally, just layers & layers of Death Metal bands. What equipment do you use?
Ibanez 6 & 7 string guitars.
Agile 7 string guitars
Cubase
Superior Drummer
Peavey, AKG & Sennheiser mics
Line 6 for all my guitar sounds (pod xt live)
Several plugins...
BBE - D85 Sonic Maximizer (for drums)
Camel Audio - Camelphat (for some really weird sounds that I could never redo live)
DB audioware sidechain compressor (drums)
Izotope Nectar complete vocal suite (awesome for vox)
Izotope Ozone (i use this for drums sometimes but primarily for the complete mixdown. This is an amazing plugin)
Waves SSL 4000 collection (i use all the eq's from this. they are awesome & simple to use)
Waves ir-1 5.2 (reverbs & ambience)
I have several other plugins that i toy around with but these are my staples.
I also use a lot of the plugins from cubase
Yamaha keyboards
Maudio Monitors
...and then there's the set up for live.Anything else?
I just bought my first motorcycle, a 2004 Triumph Daytona 600. Everyone thought i'd get a cruiser but i'm not old enough yet. Something about leaning into turns where you get so close to the ground that you can reach out and touch the asphalt. ...and then there's the speed. Lots & lots of speed. Maybe when i'm 50 yrs old, i'll get a cruiser. Anyone up for a ride?
