And... And...

Rock General

Tell The World Today Tell The World Today

An impassioned, if a bit naive, oath to make a difference in this world. A throwback to the old 'save the world' protest songs but with a throbbing Chapman stick backing with processed guitar patterns behind it all.

Experimental

Effects Of Gravity Effects Of Gravity

A song of yearning for a much younger woman. Using the metaphor of the pull of gravity to describe this attraction, the song examines a man's reluctance to go back to an unhappy home.

Crack Your Skull Crack Your Skull

Third installment in the trilogy on society and the pressures involved in modern life. This song also appears on another site under the band name Weapons Of Musical Distortion.

I'd Be Callin' I'd Be Callin'

I'd Be Callin' deals with a relationship with a woman who is in it for what she can get, and a foolish man who desperately clings to false hopes. It is a tale of a love destined to fail and of a man destined to be burned.

Acoustic Rock

Bed Of Nails is powered by the guitars of Robbie Atkins. Robbie also plays most other instruments (yes, he is a multitasking MoFo) and does much of the production. Alan Dean writes the lyrics and does primary vocal duties as well as co-producing. Our musical tastes are quite diverse, including Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin, Joe Satriani, Kiss, Ozzy, and on to Gabriel, King Crimson, Yes, Rush, Supertramp and Genesis. Our newest two songs are Crack Your Skull and Tell The World Today, two entirely different types of songs. Crack Your Skull, an angry, aggressive song about our pressurized, stressed modern world where people go through their daily lives on the edge and ready to snap at the least provocation. Tell The World Today is a modern 'save the world' type song akin to the protest songs of the 60s but with a minimalist electronica backing. Tell The World Today is actually an intro to a longer song that has not yet been completed but here is a taste of the whole composition. These two songs address a society on the brink from two completely different perspectives, one hopeful and engaged in finding a solution and one a desperate and defeated and angry view. Enjoy.

Your musical influences
Robbie was heavily influenced by Randy Rhodes, KISS, Satriani and most of the major shredders. He also enjoys bluegrass, blues, jazz and most anything that is played well. Robbie just loves music. Alan was mostly influenced by English Prog Rock bands, synth bands, Brian Eno and many of the heavy rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Alan just loves music too. Yippie!
