Hi, my name's Benjamin B.G. Chapman. Nickname "Beau". I am a lyricist/songwriter. I mostly write songs in the pop rock and country styles, but I write lyrics for the most part. When it comes to lyrics, I write in many varied styles; broadway, jazz, you name it.Your musical influences
I grew up with Country. My dad also loved musicals, so add that to the mix. Then, as a teen, I of course got into extreme music in the 80's.....pop metal, hard rock. After a while, I eventually started loving classical, broadway, jazz, old standards, swing, celtic/world beat, folk tunes/melodies. For the most part, nowadays, I either listen to broadway, pop country (faith, mcgraw, lonestar, rascall flats etc..)Old Standards like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and modern rock like matchbox 20 etc. I love about all music except for Rap and hip-hop.What equipment do you use?
not much. I have a digitech rp-150 that I plug my guitar into and record direct to a CREATIVE ZEN V mp3 player that has a "line-in" recording feature. Same thing with the mic. I know.....not very technical or professional....hence the fairly lousy recordings. But a guy does what he can until he can afford to upgrade. Anyway, it's just to get the feel/style of the music down on "tape" for now. So, it's all good.Anything else?
I realize these recordings are very rough. My intent is not to amaze anyone with the technical brilliance of my songs, simply to leave the listener with a basic idea of what my songs are like, then hopefully establish a collaboration with other songwriters and perhaps make some connections with people who know recording artists.
