WHAT IS BEATS AND SCRATCHES ?
In a few words.....A remix, production & turntablist team comprised of Rob Anhofer & Chris Ferreira. For nearly a decade these two have been dedicated to perfecting their turntable & music skills. They've developed a unique style of meticulously programmed remixes, scratch routines & original tracks. Inspired by all sub genres of music, from funk, rock, electronica & hiphop to drum & bass, dub, brokenbeats & nu jazz, this duo has an ear for capturing the best elements of music's past, present & future.Band/artist history
We've been scratching together for about 4 years now. During that time, we've been refining our production skills and now, for the past year at least, we've worked together sharing a common vision for our music. But Beats and Scratches is more than just the music. It's the showmanship as well and performing is an integral part of what we love to do. So if you get the chance to check out one of our shows, be sure to. You'll be glad you did.Have you performed in front of an audience?We've done some shows at local nightclubs here in Vancouver and are looking forward to do doing some out-of-town shows in the near future. Basically, we'll play anywhere that people are willing to have us.
Your musical influences
There are far too many to mention. From the Beatles, The Clash & Flora Purim to King Tubby, Jazzanova and NWA, we play and listen to it all. We like to combine all sorts of styles into the music we produce: Drum&Bass, Breakbeats, Hip Hop, Turntablism, Downtempo, Broken Beats/Nu Jazz, Funk, Dub, Rock&Roll and everything in between. When it comes to music, we are very open minded and that attitude can clearly be seen in the music that we produce.What equipment do you use?
We like to keep things simple which allows us to focus on what's important and that's the music. We use Cubase SX, 4x1200s, 2xVestax 07 Pro's, the latest and best in soft synths/samplers and mastering/efx software.Anything else?
