Basil Murad
I like playing video games, and I like listening to video game soundtracks. I went out and bought a music program called Garageband so that I could learn to compose video game music. That's it.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I was born in the eighties. Music which permeated my young impressionable ears at the time included Huey Lewis and the News, Duran Duran, Phil Collins (Sussudio, great, great song....) and of course Michael Jackson.
I tried to take music lessons when I was ten or something, but I didn't like my teacher and stopped going. I still had a CASIO at home to play around with, but I broke it in less than a year.
I forgot about music until about two years ago, when shortly after buying my iMac a program called Garageband came out. I bought it, and I also bought a MIDI keyboard, and since then have been making silly little tunes for my own personal enjoyment.
Until now that is. Yes, I have chosen to share the fruits of my labor with the world. That's it.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I've never played live, because I haven't figured out how to convince enough people to sit down and listen to video game music without actually playing a video game to go along with it.
Your musical influences
Everything I've ever heard man, and don't expect me to type it all out for you...geez!
What equipment do you use?
my iMac, an M-Audio Keystation, and Garageband 3.
Anything else?
That's it.
