Basic Instinct

Straight out of “Killa Queens” NYC comes a new influential rapper breaking the mold of your “typical” rap artist. Instinct started writing verses when he was 16 years old. Influenced by music he heard over the airwaves on Hot 97, he soon took to the style and knowledge of rappers such as: Tribe Called Quest, KRS- One, Naughty By Nature, Wu-Tang Clan, Big Pun, The Notorious B.I.G., and Tupac Shakur. Learning from these different styles, he decided that creating music to express himself was an good way to get rid of all the excess baggage inside of him. “Instinct’s flows are tight and uniqueat one moment I’m thinking ‘wow he sounds like KRS-One, nah.more like Big Pun’ until I’m likethat’s really Instinct. He blows me away! Every time I hear something new. I can’t believe it’s him.” -DJ Crazy ASE The purpose of Instinct’s journey through the music industry is to let his emotions out, express his views on the industry, his experiences of his past, and his outlook on life. “I know my roll in the music industry, it’s to give the people something hot to listen to. I don’t rap about cars and all that bling bling shit. I rap for the love” -Instinct
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
With his family struggling to make ends meet, his mother being shot when he was ten, (she lived) and being kicked out of High School Sophomore year, (a result of all the fights) Instinct has had a life full of experiences from which to reminisce on and rap about. One thing Instinct has not veered from is keeping his songs based on reality. With the talent and ability Instinct has shown through both his recorded work and live performances, many agree this hungry artist is destined for glory.
