BaseCurve
BaseCurve is a 3-piece hard rock groove band. Drawing from a wide range of musical influences as well as our own creativity, BaseCurve strives to create thoughtful, groove oriented hard rock.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
BaseCurve has been playing since 1998. All of us come from diverse musical backgrounds, and have played extensively with each other or seperately in other bands. This band was created out of our desire to try and work with the basic rock form, but still be able to inject our own unique personality into the music. This is the first project any of us have been involved with where we all share in the creation of the music and the direction the band as a whole wants to go. Whether we ever get signed or not, BaseCurve will continue to create music, because first and foremost we love to play.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Playing live is what we all are in the band for. Creating music is special, but being able to reproduce it live is on an entirely different level for us. Most of our shows have been in our hometown of Fresno, but we have branched out into other towns and want to do more out of town shows. For us, I think the most special moments playing live are not any show specifically, but those shows where you can fell the electricity that tells you that you have connected with the audience. Those moments always seem to come when you least expect it.
Your musical influences
We have all been greatly influenced by King's X. Their sense of melding gospel, groove, blues, hard rock, and funk has really been something we admire. Bands like Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, and Rage Against the Machine have all also been favorites of ours. We try not to clone ourselves after these bands, but instead to let their influence take it's place in a way that still allows for us to be unique.
What equipment do you use?
Our guitarist plays Mesa Boogie amps, Boss effects, and Fender and Gibson guitars. Our drummer plays a DW kit. Our bass player uses Ibanez basses, Line 6 effects, Roland keys and synthpedals, and Peavy amps.
