Band/artist history
Hard knock believers in the power of the riff. Pure metal and booze fuels the mighty Barabbas onslaught. These guys love their rhythms thick and their grooves thicker. With songs ranging from heavy-mid-tempo crunchers to fast-power-groove-staples to just straight-off ambient trip-out shit. The band's music is balls-out metal through and through... it's a head on collision with a fully loaded ten wheeler. Barabbas started out as a four-piece death/thrash outfit consisting of Chi Jebulan (vocals), Joy and allan Legason (bass and drums), and Jason Jumawan (guitars) on 2001, playing original compositions and covering Carcass. Allan left the band at the second half of 2004 to concentrate on his culinary career, and was replaced by Jokar Morales formerly of Eternal Now and D.I.N. Jok's love for ungodly tempo shifts, breakdowns and intricate playing took the band to a new and more mathematically degressive direction. Jason decided to call it quits September 2005 after setting up a business. Ron Ibanez and Ben obed were tapped to fill the vacant guitar slot, and the rest of the guys saw this opportune time to make things heavier. Both are proficient musicians and massive guzzlers. Ron is into the more-schooled approach, while Ben is known for his I'll-fuck-you-and-your-cow style. Their difference in guitar playing gives Barabbas a perceptibly diversified sound. On September 2006 and after five years of unrelenting metal, Barabbas parted ways with lead vocalist Chi Jebulan citing indifferences in what direction should the band pursue. And was later replaced by Jayrold Juerzon Tabuzo the relative newcomer in the band. Jay-r as we call him injected a new agressive voice style giving the band the needed boost to carry on further.
