A superb blend of Christian rock, acoustic, folk rock, and alt. country. R B takes a calculated, minimalist songwriting approach (usually just R B, a mic, his acoustic guitar and meaningful lyrics.)
Where to start...well, I grew up in Florida, went to high school in Maryland and joined the Navy in '92. Also, I've been happily married since 1999.
Anyway, several years ago, some friends who were on the same ship taught me the major guitar chords. From there, I stuck with it and music became my favorite hobby.
While stationed in the UK, I played gigs, mostly open mic nights, with my pals J J, Matt and Brian. I was also rhythm guitarist for the band J J Ryan before moving back to the States.
In 2007, I finished recording my debut CD, "Acoustic Rambling." It's basically a collection of stripped down songs I recorded using just an acoustic guitar, a mic and, occasionally, a keyboard. My homie, Matt Mann, helped me record a few of the songs on the CD and I recorded the rest at home.
In late 2007 / early 2008, I went through some life changing medical problems, which inspired many of the songs on my second CD, The Balance. I hope they can give whoever listens hope during hard times. In June of 2009, I started writing songs for the third CD, tentatively named Things Hidden, Things Revealed.
I'm still in the service and being a Navy Chief is a 24/7 job that I happen to love...it's been great being able to travel to so many different parts of the world with my wife and work with such dedicated professionals. So, I don't have a lot of time for gigs right now, but I do try to record new songs as often as possible.
As far as music I enjoy goes, Switchfoot, Third Day, Fastball, Jars of Clay, Jon Foreman, The Small Stars. The Beatles, Goo Goo Dolls, Tenacious D, The Small Stars, Barenaked Ladies, Zack Hexum, Counting Crows, Jack Johnson, Hall and Oates, A J Croe Snow Patrol, Lenny Kravitz, Third Eye Blind, Robert Randolph, Crank Yankers, Matt Mann, J J Wiker, Johnathan Rundman, the comedy of Brian Lee, are definitely some of my favorites. If you want to know anything else, just shoot me your question. Thanks for your time and support. God bless - R B
