Story behind the song
You had a dream, beside the Nile, of seven cows with happy smiles. Suddenly they're eaten, vanished in a day! Suddenly they're eaten, taken clean away! What can you be dreaming? What can God be saying just to you? What can be the meaning? What would God be wanting you to do? He speaks to lead, and guide you through. He speaks to lead, and guide you through. You had a dream in early morn, of seven ears of healthy corn. Have you a dream that puzzles you? You want to know what you should do? Who should you be asking? Where d'you think you'll go? Who should you be asking? Who d'you think will know? No-one can interpret: human minds are always kept apart. No-one can interpret, save the God who sees into your heart, He speaks to lead, and guide you through. He speaks to lead, and guide you through. Words (c) John Hartley 2009. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Story behind the song This song began when someone asked for songs about the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis, other than the songs in the Lloyd-Webber musical. I wrote the words of this one, with a popular tune in mind, but Michael wrote me an original tune which is just as good. The interpretation of dreams belongs only to God, says Joseph to Pharaoh - but we can ask God to reveal their meaning to us, if we wish.
