Although I play live with a cover band, the music presented in this forum is of my own creation without outside input. I play all instruments, program all MIDI devices including drums, and do all vocals. I have been actively recruiting musicians to record with me in order to broaden the horizons. My intention is to express myself as an artist and also to demonstrate my ability to write songs in different styles.
A veteran of the Dallas Club scene, Dono began writing and recording music in the early 80's, after ending the chase of fame and fortune as a professional golfer. Four track cassette to 8-track reel to reel, Lee was the principal songwriter and producer for 3 albums recorded by North Texas-based Christian Rock bands Zuriel and Truth Farm. In 1994 Lee took a hiatus from music in order to be with his family and to work on his day job, which affords the opportunity to record original music.
In the year 2000 Dono was lured out of retirement by his good buddy Dudley and the band Codger (www.thisiscodger.com) was formed to perform "Essential Rock and Rock", an eclectic mix of rock, country, pop, and a whole lotta stuff you normally don't hear from a four piece bar band. Of course, as a result, the recording bug finally bit as Dono's sons became interested and drug him back into recording. The rest is history - Dono hopes you enjoy his music.
Yes, I play live, but not with this material. We play the bar circuit in Dallas, private parties, weddings, and we are the unoffical band of the Dallas 10K/marathon scene, having played at numerous finish lines.
Yes, I enjoy it a great deal, because I play with great friends and musicians that enjoy the challenge of presenting only what we call "Essential Rock and Roll - NO CLICHES!"
There have been many special moments, but few like those two chicks at Cuidad...
I like to consider myself capable of writing in several different genre's. I love so many different artists and styles of music; from Dan Fogelberg to Dream Theater, from unknown bands and musicians like Neil Morse and Spock's Beard to Classic country, and most all points in between. And I find myself strangely drawn back to the pop tunes of the mid to late 1960's written by popmeisters such as Jimmy Webb. My plans are to upload different styles as time goes on (and I get them recorded)
AMD Opteron DAW, Presonus 8- channel pre-amp, Sonar Producer, Korg M1 as a Controller, Yamaha NS10-m studio monitors, Auralex foam, BFD Drums and ten different guitars.
I just hope someone enjoys my music. I am very interested in songwriting as a commercial venture. I welcome feeback and critisism because that will help me grow as a musician and recording artist.
