Story behind the song
Growing up in the east LA suburbs I recall seeing smoggy days that were so bad that the sun was blood red. It looked apocalyptic to me then and you know things are much worse in the world now than they were back then.
Lyrics
Sometimes I have the strangest thoughts Like a nightmare I've had has come true At times I see the strangest dreams And I lie there wondering what to do It's that helplessness you feel when somebody dies Could be the sky is comin' down Behind Iron curtains outside bolted doors I used to be so certain what reality was for Sometimes I feel my spirit caught Yes it's captured between the cogwheels teeth At times I think it's just a scream But still there's that question underneath It's that heart attack you have when your best friend's been killed Could be the sky is comin' down Behind Iron curtains outside bolted doors I used to be so certain what reality was for Sometimes while listening to the news I find my lost vision in the fog At times while staring at the sun As it slowly sinks into the smog I have the nervous feeling that I'm lookin' at the scene Painted when the sky was comin' down Behind Iron curtains outside bolted doors I used to be so certain what reality was for
