Story behind the song
Some old friends of mine we always like to do a good hike somewhere at least once or twice a year. This is about a real lake in the California Wilderness. The name of the lake is Lake Silvia. At night the place was kinda spooky. I don't know why they named it Lake Silvia so I decided to write a story about it.
Lyrics
Headin' up east with a pal of mine took a road headed into the pines found a place called Horshoe Bend -- at morning light met with a friend a cool walk in -- snow on the ground finally got there -- here's what we found Silvia Lake -- So damm clear -- seen the bottom fifty feet down there sat on a rock -- the last night howled at the moon drank tequila and lime I wanted to stay I really like this place -- Silvia Lake Cold long night in that tent heard nothin' new but the crazy old wind went outside searched the stars, moon sparkled bright as lights on a car the water beams-- reflect to my eyes saw her there iup in the sky Silvia lake -- so damm clear seen the bottom fifty feet down there sat on a rock -- the last night howled at the moon drank tequila and lime I saw her face guess she really had to stay Silvia Lake they say she really loved this place -- until her tragic death one day she still lives on they gave this place her name Silvia Lake
