Story behind the song
Default assault is a term I coined to describe how we unknowingly adopt the thought process of our family or care givers. As children the first people we learn from are those in our home. We unconsciously and subconsciously adopt their way of thinking and their behaviors just as they were taught to think and behave from their parents via beliefs, social standing or however they were taught. I’ve found that default assault is a cyclical mental pattern that goes on undetected until an individual becomes aware of it and decides to brake the cycle by readjusting to a way of thinking that is desirable to self. This song is my chronicle of such awareness; making that decision to brake the mental cycle I inherited from my family after observing that way of thinking and behavior was actually detrimental to my personal happiness in life.
Lyrics
I wonder of the things I think and do. Re-frame my thoughts, a better point of view. Default dissolves, take no prisoners I’m resolved. Until the next assault; discovered, observed and returned to whom it belongs. When I think I can’t. I observe. And then I say I do. Default assault aint the end result. If you do nothing it is your fault. Default beliefs have been my misery. No benefit so I set me free. The end result, cycles broken life moves on. A root sustained from youth; adjusted, embraced and exalted to a higher form. When I think I can’t. I observe. And then I say I do. Default assault aint the end result. If you do nothing it is your fault. Assault comes fourth as oogie feelings. Observing self seems unyielding. Shift to reverse assault, observed, returned such a strange ass battle going on. Until the next assault; discovered, observed and returned to whom it belongs. (Chorus)
