The divine reality is right here at hand, but we are blind to it for many reasons, most of which are egocentric, and most of which produce conflict and division. So this song is a call to see the world with a "single eye," in a new, unifying Light.

Story behind the song
When I wrote the original version of this song in 1978, I hadn't even seen what was coming. I was in the desert, meditating. Since then I have witnessed what the forces of greed and self-interest have done to our nation and to our world. And yet I still believe that the real truth will bring a New Enlightenment, which will lead to a New Reformation.
Lyrics
RIGHT HERE NOW (AT HAND) Some say the end is drawing near, They do not see the change in the air. They do not see the truth in the things they fear. They’re too busy climbing those stairs. What do you believe? Does it serve us well? Or do you think you are part of a chosen few? You can change your mind, and start to dwell, On a heaven including us all, not just some few. Because heaven is not some far away place. It’s right here now and at hand. Even though it’s also beyond our time and space, With a single eye we can see it’s here at hand. Our imagination can sow a seed. What are you planting in your mind? Do you see the world in the Light you need? Do you know we’re all one, and one of a kind? We can look to the future as we want it to be, Not how we’re afraid it will go. If we all imagine heaven on earth, you see, That’s the way this world is gonna go. Because heaven is not some far away place. It’s right here now and at hand. Even though it’s also beyond our time and space, With a single eye we can see it’s here at hand.
