Story behind the song
I wrote this song after visiting Toronto and seeing the poverty, homelessness, and despair. It hit home even more after visiting and spending some time around the east side of Vancouver. The song is not necessarily about the homeless or drugs. It is more about the state of mind we are in. Feelings of hopelessness. It's easy to get caught up in things we know we shouldn't be doing. It can also be easy to stay in situations that we know are wrong but for one reason or the other we stay. We know what's right but we don't or can't do it. These types of things can give us a feeling of hopelessness...and can slowly kill our spirits...
Lyrics
You can't get nowhere with your eyes close, you better get up and make your way, Cause it's a Killing town. You better open up your eys, cause it'll take you by surprise, It'll knock you down. When the day seems long, and you're every things are gone. Don't let it bring you down, Cause it's a Killing Town It'll take your heart but it won't take your shame, and you're gonna wonder who'll remember your name When there's no one around. Everybody has something but it's easy to forget. You gotta get up and make your way Cause it's a Killing Town. When the day seems long, and you're every things are gone. Don't let it drag you down, Cause it's a Killing Town
