Azmyth is a high-energy band that really reaches out to all ages, through their thunderous drum and bass hooks, their catchy guitar riffs to their catchy story telling lyrics. This band has no problem capturing the audience with their high energy electrical show. Azmyth recently wrote, recorded and released a twenty one song concept CD that came from the depths of a passion that Tim Downey, Lead singer has for the history of the 1800’s. He has the ability to go back in time and yet write for events that are occurring present day. Tim started playing guitar at the young age of twelve and hasn’t stopped since. When composing an album he totally puts all of his heart and soul into it and the results are amazing.
Having spent their childhood in the DC metropolitan area, Tim and Tyler Downey have experienced it all. They have been face to face with people of all backgrounds. As small children their concerns were for those who didn’t have a warm bed to sleep in and warm food on the table. Also spending their teenage years in the Atlanta area, they saw first hand people who would sleep in and under the streets of Atlanta. This made a mark on Tim’s heart and he has vowed to help the less fortunate every way that he can. He has had people from every walk of life explain to him how each of his songs is able to touch upon their lives and experiences in some way. What a gift!
As the brothers edged on toward their teenage years they were able to relocate back to their true roots in the small community of Orange Springs, Florida. Having lived in the high paced fast track environment they found it soothing to be back “home”. It was then that they really began concentrating on what they wanted out of their musical careers. After testing and treading through several band members they were magically hooked up with Sean Ditto, Azmyth’s bass player, through the one and only convenience store in Orange Springs. Sean auditioned and his bass slappin’ funky rifts were just what the brothers were looking for. Sean departed for almost two years to follow his own endeavors, however has since stepped back into place as though never being away. This was the missing link to this band and now the possibilities are endless.
The youngest member of the band, Alex Noles, Azmyth’s rhythm guitar player entered the band in the spring of 2010. Alex came in with the ability to pick up the Azmyth sound and yet add his own personal touch. He gives Tim the ability to take this band to a whole other level. Alex is capable of not only playing rhythm but also filled in as bass player during Ditto’s absence.
Azmyth won the Pat Travers battle of the bands held in Ocala Florida, in 2009. At this time the band only consisted of The Downey brothers and Sean. This gave them the opportunity to work in the studio with Keith Henderson who was a direct understudy of Bruce Swieden who in turn worked closely with Michael Jackson’s producer Quincy Jones. This was the turning point for Azmyth as it produced their first three song EP which featured songs The Fountain, Sail Away and Revolution. Azmyth also has performed many venues such as the Daytona International Speedway in the Sprint Fan Zone infield.
Downey and his band Azmyth continues to write, record and produce music that is appealing to those of all ages. Tim, being the leader of the band dreams of personally one day being able to show those who are less fortunate just how fortunate they really are. His life is his music and he values the people in his life who allow that to happen, most importantly his band members, Tyler, Alex and Sean, as well as his managers but most importantly the fans of Azmyth. So if you are ready join the Rock n Roll Revolution called Azmyth and be prepared to have the ride of your life in this extra ordinary revolutionary time!
