Love You To Death

Torture, sadism, and all that jazz!
Band/artist history
The Sillies formed April 1977. Their debut was second billing to The MC5 with Destroy All Monsters (Ron Asheton of Iggy & The Stooges plus MC5 bassist Mike Davis)as the opening act. The Sillies toured the U.S. and Canada, played shows with The Damned, The Dead Boys, Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers, The Cramps, and many others. Last year's Christmas show had 225 slamdancing Santas, go-go dancing Santa's helpers, and reindeer strippers. See the video at www.thesillies.com!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We've played live and near-death at CBGB in NYC, Spaceland in LA, the Los Angeles Colusseum (Warped Tour), The Horseshoe (Toronto), Hart Plaza (Detroit), San Francisco, Chicago, Cleveland, etc. We'd play more often, but it's easier just to sit at home and play with ourselves (musically).
Your musical influences
The Byrds, Roger (Jim) McGuinn, The Stooges, Iggy, The MC5, NY Dolls, Roxy Music, Ultravox, Wire, The Damned, Brian Jones' Rolling Stones, Buzzcocks, Beatles, Velvet Underground, Wheeler & Woolsey.
What equipment do you use?
Epiphone Firebird VII, Epiphone 1958 Flying V, Epiphone ES-335, Epiphone SG, Italia Monza (with humbuckers), Campbell-Maccaferri "SC" guitar with three humbuckers (www.campbellguitars.com) piano, organ, and a Mellotron, for that "Moody Blues" sound.
Anything else?
"The Sillies writhe with a reckless energy shared by Detroit's most revered rockers (MC5, The Stooges). Their music swaggers with a New York Dolls-like panache and is as raunchy as Iggy Pop's reputation." ALTERNATIVE PRESS MAGAZINE An X-rated gong show for the young and desperate" DETROIT NEWS "The Sillies figure prominently in Detroit's richly storied music scene." L A WEEKLY "Their sound is straight out of the back seat of your dad's Rally Nova Super Sport!" SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER "Detroit's lowest form of entertainment" MAXIMUM ROCK & ROLL "Hard, obscene, cartoonish, gross, and even pretty! Detroit's legendary most dangerous band." CURRENT MAGAZINE "Infamous for their interactive live shows, biting satire, and humorous hits like "Lesbo Love" and "Sex For The Handicapped". MUSIC CONNECTION MAGAZINE "The greatest unsigned punk band of all time!" DESTROY ALL MONTHLY MAGAZINE (Los Angeles) "Blatant sexuality and pounding beat....Detroit's legendary most dangerous band".
