Formed in mid-2003 OVERPASS can be best described as melodic hard/alternative rock outfit from Sydney.
The band encases the amazing talent of 4 guys with a wide range of backgrounds both musically and personally, something which proves for an electrifying musical experience.
Founding member, guitarist Ryan Day (ex-Shayde) set out to form a new band in the fall of 2003.
He scouted scouted extensively for a singer until he came across Chris Tantchev, with great vocal ability and energy, he brought a diverse feel to the band.
Next to join was bassist Chris Williamson, with a heavy funk influence he had to adjust to the rock persuasion, something which he amended to with prompt dedication.
Finally, Aaron Heinrich provided the band with a strong rhythmic section. With strong skill and a great feel for the music he was a welcome addition to the band.
Within two months of the band being formed the first gig was booked, at Sydney's renowned Cat & Fiddle Bar.
Demonstrating great energy, both as a band and individual musicians, the set, comprising of both heavy and some softer tunes was received exceedingly well by the audience.
Since then, support has been growing for the band, with OVERPASS shortly after playing the Faultline Festival at The Metro in February 2004 with Sunk Loto, Daysend, Kyser and MM9.
The band also played at the 2003 Falls Festival alongside Pennywise, Reel Big Fish, MIchael Franti, Cog, The Butterfly Effect and many others. A great experience and also a great opportunity for the guys to take their music one-step further.
Overpass recorded a four-song demo in September 2004, one of the tracks featured on the demo; "Try and Believe" debuted at #3 on the MP3.com.au and a recently released song also on the demo "Relentless Emotion" is enjoying strongs spots on the Rock and Heavy Rock charts.
The band also won the Blymp Band Competition, securing them a spot in next year's Bondi Youth Festival alongside Skulker and Koolism, held annually at Bondi Beach.
Overpass are currently in pre-production for the recording of their debut EP to be released in the mid of next year

Strong guitar riffs, which can move between heavy distortion to gentle chords, a bass which incorporates rock & funk into one and at the same time rhythmically transforms between notes, percussion which progresses between rock, funk and metal in the same cadence and vocals, which range between acute melodic intervals to dismal displays of emotion.
2004 will see Overpass release their debut EP and showcase their music all over Australia, already having conquered the Falls Festival in 2003, the band is gearing up for an exciting year of touring and taking their music to the next level.
