New site, new sound, new demo, new line-up, new choice of fruity flavours...welcome to the all new sound of In Pain Die. We take our influences from a wide and varied group of music, ranging from death metal encompassing all forms of metal through to other genres of music that you might not neccesarily associate with a metal band, we believe in a way our music is a form of escapism in the same way someone might like to read sci-fi or other fictional novels, having said that if we want to there is nothing stopping us from touching on everyday issues that effect people in everyday life. We decideed from the start that groove and rhythm would play an important part in our music as we figured that theres a lot of bands playing technical stuff which might well be admired by other musicians but the average person probably isnt going to be overly impressed by a technically outstanding piece of guitar or drumming, again if we decide a song would benefit from a technical fill we can put one in, the overall focus is on slamming grooves though. Production is something we want to focus on as well to give people the chance to hear us as we want to sound we have played all manner of gigs and with inconsistent p.a. systems or sound engineers who dont know us we can end up sounding like a different band, so for these next releases production will be a key topic to help us deliver our music. In the pipeline weve got this new album being written as your reading this!! It's title is "Where My Allegiance Lies" and promises to be the heaviest thing out of camp ipd to date, to quote Ant (Bass and Vocals) the new sound we are aiming for is "groove laden death metal mixed with newer stuff like Lamb of God and Stampin' Ground". In the meantime you can check out our all new demo/Ep "Digital Relic" which is a sampler of things to come on the upcoming album..but by now means the tip of the iceberg...get ready!!! IN PAIN DIE have returned!!!
Band/artist history
In Pain Die’s original members: Jon Drums (ex Tortured Through Memory), Curly Guitar (ex Tortured Through Memory), Jess Keyboards, and Matty Vocals; formed IPD in Buckley North Wales in 2000 with a view to making heavy groove laden music. After several rehearsals but no gigs or recording it became apparent that Jess wasn’t right for the band. Heading out as a three piece with Matty playing bass this fledging version of In Pain Die was to prove one that remained stable for a good long while, releasing a recording and doing several gigs with this line-up, however all was not well with this line-up either! Jon and Matty were becoming more and more concerned at the lack of commitment shown to the band by Curly, so as a result IPD mark 3 was born; however for a while Jon and Matty recorded on there own releasing ‘Fictional Man’ and ‘Subsurface Calm’ as a two piece. Obviously this was not ideal for gigging and so Joe Ritchie joined the band and took over bass duties wile Matty switched to guitar and vocals. This line-up gigged extensively in London, Crewe, Liverpool, Wrexham, Leeds, Manchester and several other places, two recordings were made with this line-up as well, they were entitled ‘The Last Few Pages’ and ‘Replace and Discard’. After several months Matty and Jon were not happy with Joe and so asked him to leave. After much searching for a bass player an enthusiastic young player was found in the form of Ant in late 2002. Ant joined the In Pain Die ranks, appearing on In Pain Die’s finest recording to date (at this point). Ant’s bass playing style lifted the whole IPD sound to another level with the addition of his death metal influenced growl backing vocals this line-up was by far the most productive and most gigged to date. With gigs in London, Liverpool, Stockport, Bolton, Northwich, Wigan, and Manchester to name but a few; the band carved out a solid reputation for uncompromising metal which led them being granted local support slots to signed acts such as UK extreme metal heroes Gutworm. Despite the success, all was not well in camp IPD however. Jon had considered leaving IPD for a while in favor of playing heavier more death metal influenced music; and approached Ant who was basically thinking the same thing, the recording of the ‘Hope But No Belief’ demo seemed to be the last straw for Ant and Jon as they felt the band was in decline realising that musically and lyrically it was nothing like what they wanted to be involved in. As a result they decided to reform ‘In Pain Die’ in their own image. The song writing of Matty became more and more watered down over time and less heavy; as a result Matty was asked to leave In Pain Die so the band could continue to create uncompromising and blistering metal without him. As a result bass player and backing vocalist Ant took to lead vocals and the search for a new guitarist began. With the discovery of new guitar player Rich joining the fold the new 2005 In Pain Die line-up promises to be hard hitting ‘groove some’ mid paced and un-relentlessly heavy. We now take our influences from a wide and varied group of music, ranging from death metal. Encompassing all forms of metal through to other genres of music that you might not necessarily associate with a metal band, we believe in a way our music is a form of escapism in the same way someone might like to read sci-fi or other fictional novels, having said that if we want to there is nothing stopping us from touching on everyday issues that effect people in everyday life.
