Frogg Marlowe (Jeremy Works) and Jaycatt Nico (Marc lePine) grew up just down the street from each other in the small northwestern town of Eugene, Oregon; a city known for its arts subculture. They have known each other since their early childhood days, meeting for the first time in elementary school. Frogg has an extensive arts background, with a history rich in theater and musical performances. He has performed in many different theater productions, and is a vocal jazz minor at college with 14 years vocal training. Frogg's familiarity with the Eugene open mic scene (through hosting and performing) has taught him a lot about live music and how to please audiences. During this time he learned guitar and harmonica on his own time. Jaycatt studied piano for approximately 10 years, until deciding to focus on original compositions. His love of music took a backseat to his full-time job at an electric utility. In June 2005, Jaycatt discovered SecondLife, and Frogg joined soon after. A month or so later, Frogg discovered the live music capabilities of SL, and started playing shows on a regular weekly basis. Jaycatt began by providing piano music breaks during Frogg's shows, and eventually these breaks grew into longer sets, and that's when they began to collaborate and perform duets. Together, they are known as "Effinjay", and as of July 2011, their regular Friday night performances have been running for over six years, currently at Jaycatt's venue "AmphibiCatt Gardens". The shows are extremely popular, and have a large loyal fan base. They entertain and delight all live music lovers of SecondLife with their songs and occasional witty banter, playing on average 5 live shows a week. Effinjay's notoriety in SL has not escaped the attention of the music industry and to date they have been interviewed by, amongst others, Rolling Stone Magazine and MTV. Their repertoire consists of mostly original material and a few selected covers, composed of a mix of piano, guitar, vocals, and harmonica. Their eclectic mix has been described as acoustic organic folkjazz. As singer/songwriters they have produced a comprehensive range of heartfelt and memorable melodies and poetically lyrical songs. Their musical influences range from Mannheim Steamroller, Simon and Garfunkle, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and even Frank Zappa.
