Zirconium Mechanism 1982-1992
A decade of self development. I start with a cheap electric guitar a practice amp and 2 tape decks (not reel to reel), and as I earn money after just leaving school,I plough most of it into new and second hand gear.So the sound canvas increases as the years go on.
Because I had no multi track the 1st few albums have different tracks on the left and right channels, this changes when I get a tascam 244 (4 track),the first stereo album is Satellite's depth.
Let's start with the early years:
I had two tape decks, a realistic brand drum machine, cheap electric guitar, Laney guitar amp and a few foot pedals (memory man, regan stereo phaser are two I remember having at the time). No multi-track or mixer, just the one on the amp.So tape recordings were passed through the amp I played the next "over dub" and taped it on one channel of the second deck, and built it up into two separate mono channels.
Something a bit different and distorted is how I started off,and I loved it !
No I'm a home recording type person.
From Virgin Prunes to ABBA I like all sorts and it keeps changing.
It was mainly analog back then so I recorded on cassette, 4 tracks, 8 tracks then minidisc at the end.I had a soundcraft 16:8:2 mixer that made life so easy, wish I still had it !
I AM NUTS !
