Dave Rich
The Dave Rich Band have been playing their unique blend of pop, rock, jazz and folk for a few years now. Based in Devon in the UK their sound has been growing a steady following throughout the world, and with the release of Overload in the summer of 2006 they also gained the appreciation of much of the uk music press. What followed was a UK tour, many festival appearances and alot of radio interviews and performances. A VERY hard working band you're just as likely to see them playing in your local pub as in your local theatre. All all this from a band who is currently independant and unsigned!. Check out www.daverichband.com for more information, and of course check out the music here on soundclick. CDs are also available nationwide from record stores via Proper Music distribution (LIVIDDRB1), and also on the bands website.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
DRB are a 5 piece band, fronted by Dave Rich (piano/guitar) - a musician who's worked all his life around the South West as a singer/songwriter. DRB are totally independent, Dave's music is currently distributed worldwide by Proper Music and he is a member of the PRS and MCPS. The album Overload was received with glowing reviews, although it wasn't Dave's first CD. Dave has produced 5 solo albums which he released regionally from his website. Over the years the band has formed to backup his exceptionally good song writing. Always striving to make interesting, yet accessible music DRB pride themselves on being a proper band, writing excellent tunes and playing memorable, exciting gigs. Although difficult to classify, his music sits comfortably alongside the likes of Paul Weller, Coldplay, U2, The Sterophonics, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Jamie Cullum, and Damien Rice. Even the entrenched music industry aficionados have had a really hard time labelling that which can fill the void between Rock, Pop, Folk, Country and Jazz. Dave notes Bruce Hornsby, Sting and Marc Cohn as major influences, and when Dave lets fly on the piano you can definitely hear the Hornsby touch there. The band are dotted all over Devon, but are open to dates worldwide. They've been invited to tour next year in Canada and Spain. Recent gigs have taken them to Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Birmingham, and Cardiff.
