Hide from the rev-e-new-ers.
We are an Irish Band with players from all over the Dallas Fort Worth area who just enjoy playing together. It's all about the good times and we just can't help it that the music is the craic as well. Our Band Manager and Heart beat thumper likes to use the slogan; "Reel Good, Reel Fast." You catch him saying his favorite thing if you listen up; "Beer Please" Our Penny Whistle man, Wizard of the hammered Dulcimer and soulful singer of Scottish Ballads says; "It's all about the good times. Beer Please." Our lead vocalist, and majorly accomplished guitarist says; "Let's play the stuff they really like. Beer Please" The Band Leader, Deranged Fiddler, and singer of silly Irish songs says; "Get your own beer and stop drinking mine!" Our Mandolin player and most recent addition says; "I prefer Jamesons"
Band/artist history
Tippler's Folly is a group of 4 friends who been playing Irish music together in some fashion or another for years. Jackie Fritz, the lead singer, and Mark Cordova, the fiddler first met each other close to 13 years ago. They were competing over a primo performance spot at a Ren Faire. You can hardly tell that Mark's nose was busted in 5 different places. I kid of course but their very first enounter was not only fun but amusing to watch. Since then, they have become great friends. Their common musical performances have always been marked by laughter and good natured kidding. Let's not forget that the music was great. On St. Pat's day 2006, another great friend of Mark's cornered him at a rocking session. Don't be confused but that great friend also goes by Mark, Mark Davis. We just call him Santa. He's the bodhran player who refused to sell out his relentless rythmic attacks by picking up a silly melodic instrument. Anyhow, Mr. Mark Davis wants to build a band and get to gigging post haste. Great idea! Since Tipplers' Folly wasn't quite complete we added the third of four founding members. Mark says 'Hey Didja hear Dave Campbell singing the other night. He's got a great tenor voice! Well, I had always that Dave was just an awesome whistle playing fantastic hammered dulcimer beater. Who knew that he had talent! The addition of Dave makes us the band called Tippler's Folly. Ahh but wait. There's more. Mark says to David, the other Mark and Jackie, "Umm, Tom wants to join" Jackie says "OK." The other Mark says "OK." David says "Does he play dulcimer? No? OK."
Have you performed in front of an audience?
So far all our Performances have taken place near the Denton Texas area. We have our eyes on that those two little towns just south of us called Dallas and Fort Worth. All I can say is - see ya soon!
