Sephiroth is a Dutch deathmetal band. Sephiroth plays old-school deathmetal combined with brutal deathmetal. Sephiroth was formed in January 2003 by drummer Damien Kerpentier and guitar player Chris Both. After many line-up changes the members of Sephiroth are: Ben de Graaff - vocals Julian Schaap - guitars Chris Both - guitars Damien Kerpentier - drums Sephiroth released a demo in 2003 called "Carnage of the souls" which was recieved very well. After many shows in the Netherlands and Belgium the band recorded their first E.P. in May 2007 called "Dying for Hatred". Sephiroth is now active performing and writing new material for their upcoming full-lenght record called "Breaking the codes of silence" which will be released in the beginning of 2008.
Band/artist history
Sephiroth was founded by Damien Kerpentier and Christian Both, on January 29th 2003. After a short period being called nibbel, we changed the name into Sephiroth. (Not referable with the Final Fantasy character) With a new name and singer Ben de Graaff, Sephiroth started making a mix between Black and Deathmetal. With various bass players and new guitar player Gregory den Hertog, Sephiroth did many shows in various cities. Later in 2003 we had enough material for our demo called "carnage of the souls". This demo was received very well and plans were made to record an album. But with the leaving of Gregory and our bass player, Sephiroth stranded for a couple of months. In March 2005 they contacted bass player Lennert Riedé and Guitar player Julian Schaap. Unfortunately, Lennert had to leave the band after a couple of months. So we decided to stay as a four piece band. Sephiroth dropped their Blackmetal influences and stayed a Deathmetal band, dropping the songs from the first demo, to make a fresh new start. We are now busy writing new songs for an additional record which will be hopefully released halfway 2007. The album will be called "Breaking the codes of silence" and will have 7 or 8 new tracks. Throughout the years we were able to play with many great bands like Sinister, Ancient Rites, Pleurisy, Sanatorium, Houwitser, Pantheist, Nunslaughter, Digested Flesh, Demonical, Pigsty, Caedre, Katafalk, Obtruncation and many more!
