The Prophet is a street journalist. He is a classic battle MC with a twist.Underground street-hop artist like this propel urban music to the next level. The Prophet grew up in the heart of San Francisco California. His father was a well-known concert promoter at the time. The Prophet born Mika Guillory was quickly introduced to the music scene at a young age. At age 13, he fell deep into the late night hip-hop culture. Riding the MUNI bus system throughout San Francisco’s urban areas he became a Graff-artist himself and idolized artists such as Eric B, Rakim, Grand Master Flash and movies like Wild Styles and Breaking became his inspiration. The Prophet’s family struggled do to his father being a single parent while fighting cancer. Prophet and his father did what ever it took to put food on their table in their one bedroom apartment. In 1994 The Prophet moved to Santa Rosa and met local hip-hop crew Prodejay. Godfather Record signed The Prophet to a 2yr-recording contract and was then featured on a compilation called “Along Time Coming” with Prodejay. The Prophet said, “I was raised more as a battle emcee, so my lyrics stem from poetic slams striving to be the best, I wrote verses to defend myself, to get people to respect my skill and to slam my competitors.” The Prophet has recently released his solo debut titled “Block Venom”. In this debut he chronicles his life on the streets, in the studio and on the mic. His word play and vocal tone set him apart from every other emcee on the underground circuit. The Prophet is a true gem to the underground, capturing the hunger within him, at his passion, to become the best. The Prophet combines mass appeal with a unique sound. “Hip-Hop is the plasma in my veins the most passionate form of expression I could possibly generate.” He said. So keep your ear to the streets for the underground sound of The Prophet.
