Chris Ayer
I'm a solo folk rock artist living in Brooklyn, NY... my music is influenced by folk, bluegrass, pop, soul, poetry, philosophy, and people.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I've been writing music for 5 years now, and have spent the past year promoting my first EP, "static." I started out singing along to Elvis when I was 8, and played piano for a while. When I was about to graduate from high school, my dad bought me a left-handed guitar, and I started writing songs a couple months later. I moved to California for school, and I've been playing shows around the Bay Area ever since, writing as I go. Now that school's done, it's been all music, all the time. Finally.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Love playing colleges and parties, and coffee shops are my home.
Your musical influences
Influences are Paul Simon, James Taylor, Counting Crows, Bob Dylan, David Gray, Nick Drake, Dave Matthews, Ani Difranco, Nickel Creek, Ben Folds, Ryan Adams My sound is similar to Jason Mraz, Ben Lee, Damien Rice and, I'd like to think, James Taylor.
What equipment do you use?
Gibson guitar, Goldtone banjo, handdrums, Piano (when I can find one)
