Mumpcake is a collective of musicians.
Individually, we are better known for playing bluegrass, heavy metal, blues, and indie pop, so it only makes sense that we should collaborate on electronic based compositions.
It all started with a dream. One of those dreams that you tell your friends and they tell you how messed up you are.
This dream involved someone going around the Guggenheim whispering the words "mumpcake, mumpcake, sprinkle sprinkle sprinkle, come to my tea tasting".
We thought it would be funny to put that to music. We were alone in that opinion. Thus was born our first song, "It's Time For Mumpcake", which was almost universally reviled.
Since then we have released a few other songs. Some people have noted that these were much better than ITFM.
We currently have several unfinished pieces that sound like spa music with a groovy downtempo beat tacked on.
Us live? That would be "interesting".

Mumpcake is a dessert made from poundcake cut into cubes. Toppings include whipped cream with strawberry preserves or ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce. In either case, sprinkles are recommended. Somehow we feel that is a metaphor for our offbeat electronica.
There are three phases of Mumpcake. The first is entry. The second is the tea tasting. The third is the lounge.
There is no set method to gain entry to "The Lounge", as I have not yet achieved this level and "Entry" is different for everybody. It is a state of mind. It may be helpful to look deep within one's self and reflect upon what "Their Lounge" should be and (and this is most important) not to forget to tip the guy at the piano.
