She's Got A Love
History A little while ago, two individuals from either side of the country decided to combine their skill and experience to share a rare blend of music with the rest of the world. Unfortunately, their combined skill and experience amounted to little, other than an old keyboard with no functioning middle C, and an assortment of short chordal progressions. And frankly, the world seemed somewhat uninterested in their poorly engineered soft-pop and jazz flavoured offerings of Muzak, which they labeled Retro Electro. Both musicians had hoped their complete lack of technical music engineering skill might result in a refreshing and non-commercial sounding package to contrast with mass of highly-polished, perfectly-produced music on offer. But it did not. That’s because whatever the excuse, people are still not interested in rubbish. Unperturbed, and motivated by a great deal of time and plenty of denial, their musical aspirations have gown and matured into an enthusiastic style, amounting to what one review described as “ a contemporary evolution of elevator music” '...which is great,' admits MC Tasty, 'because our music is perhaps best enjoyed with the listeners attention firmly elsewhere.' 'Yes,' agrees DJ Pooh, 'that way our work is largely ignored, which is frankly, best for everyone concerned.' Since then, the keyboard has been fixed. Although the chordal ideas remain largely unchanged. Biography MC Tasty Seven years ago, MC Tasty was contacted by a strange man in a long black coat who handed him a small golden talisman with the words “property of Archibald Lucifer Braheames. If found please return to Cheltenham, Cotswald SW1” inscribed upon it. Since that moment, his life has been one of peculiar celestial-like coincidences and that upon reflection, have guided him on a musical odyssey across lands ripe with fruits and seas thick with foam. 'I have no idea what that means', he pondered during an interview for Gig Magazine when reminded of these words in early 2006. 'I can only assume I was really quite ill at the time'. DJ Pooh Without wanting to be clever, DJ Pooh still hasn’t grown up at all. Born in Sussex, England, he emigrated to Australia when he was only five. Obviously his parents had a great deal to do with this, as being so young it would be an almost insurmountable task for him to organize logistically. How would he get to the airport for example? 'It was an amazing time', he admitted during the same interview as above when describing their initial musical endeavours, during a brief moment when he could finally get a word in when MC Tasty had gone for a pee. 'I only wish I could remember it'. Together as the Velvet Paws (plural) of Asquith 'Its amazing really', nods MC Tasty, 'although we live on the opposite sides of the country and collaborate on projects via the net, it’s like we are never apart. As though Pooh and I are married; despite our work keeping us physically apartit also brings us together'. He ponders quietly for a moment with DJ Pooh looking uncomfortable next to him, before continuing. 'And when we get together for a gig, its like making love after a long absence'. 'I feel ill', DJ POOh admits quietly. On the Velvet Paws of Asquih 'I loved the Velvet Paw of Asquith novels after reading the first one,' admits MC Tasty. 'And we truly owe a great deal of our success to the opportunities the books have given us.' 'What success?' asks DJ Pooh, turning bemused to his colleague. MC Tasty shrugs. 'Before we knew of them, we were directionless and talentless,' he explained. 'And now we have more direction than a fully fledged compass.' DJ Pooh nods. 'Yes actually, that's true,' he concedes. 'But we're still talentless.' MC Tasty agrees entirely. 'Oh that's a given. Despite all the exposure the Velvet Paw of Asquith novels have provided, we are still completely shit.'
