Peter Erickson is a singer/songwriter from Norman Oklahoma and has been performs original song with many of the band he has been with over the years.
Peter joined local Norman band Chateau with Dean Brown (now with The Mystery Dates and Director of Education at Norman Music Institute) and Phil McKinzey (also with Norman band Jimmie Swat and now with The Flatiron Refugees). In his college days he played in the Edmond based band, Excalibur with Brian Lynn Jones (Brain Lynn Jones and the Misfit Cowboys) and Jerry Dale McFadden (also in Six Pence None the Richer and now with The Mavericks). Looking to spend more time writing his own songs, Peter joined up with singer/guitarist Mark McClellan to form Officer 67 in 1990. Officer 67 performed many of Peter's song and later produced an album with the help of Darla Miller (The Cannons) on backup harmonies and Frank Lawrence with studio production. He has learned so much from the many fine musicians he has worked with and uses this experience to craft his songs.
Erickson's early musical influences were from the live performances of the traditional country/bluegrass players of the southeast Missouri area. He later discovered Neil Young, Cat Stevens, Crosby Stills Nash &Young, James Taylor, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan to name a few, that contributed to his style of playing and writing.
