Bearing my soul to you.. Try to give you something new But dreams they don’t pay the rent. And what I said I never meant My muses always aim to please in my creative hour of need But still you have to ask me why the meaning’s always do or die Tapping the source of who I am Thinking in abstract Coming up with a plan Wearing my captive heart out on my sleave Giving it all to you, and only you To like it is a matter of taste. Fact it was done in so much haste Could never be a work of art. It doesn’t go straight the the heart But could you give a listen, please? The build up here, it needs release I don’t expect you to approve. I’ll understand if you don’t groove Putting it all out on the line, All that’s artistic must be able to shine Pouring on the avante garde Letting it flow Saying what comes into my brain. I’m so insane. You know I know you want to hear a melody so sweet and clear Sung in perfect harmony, like a Mozart symphony You want to hear the notes just right, and the arrangement oh so tight And that’s OK most of the time. But there’s a time to “let it ride” Just my crude Picasso touch. It really doesn’t say so much I’ll chalk it up to live and learn. Don’t give your listeners what they can’t discern Only a sound experiment Nothing accomplished, but I made an attempt Challenge a paradigm. Break all the rules A musical rebel in a straight and narrow town.
