I started out as a bass player in the early 90's playing fast and furious rock in what was once a thriving music scene in Sydney. I've mellowed into a thoughtful and deliberate lyricist and guitarist, some might say this is my natural state. I've written countless songs living most of life with my head in the clouds considering the poetic nuances of life's ups and downs. Most recently I've formed a duo with fellow dreamer Peter Fenwick to Form "Cloud Bird". In Cloud Bird Poetry and Folk collide with a foot tapping road trip sing a long's entwining guitars, harmonies, girl boy, yin yang, north south, land sea, cloud bird ...that sort of thing. Demos are on the way and when they are ready I'll post some up.
Band/artist history
I started out as a bass player in the early 90's with Lixivius when I could barely play a note or look at an audience I was so terrified. None of this ever stopped me and it's been an initiation by fire ever since, throwing myself further and further into the deep end. I like to think I developed into a solid and dependable bass player with bands such as Danny Wax, Sooshish, Double Helix and Glasgow and the 4th Wall...but after all these bands met their demise in different ways I vowed to go it alone for fear of further disappointment...It's hard to be independent as a bass player! So I picked up the guitar for the first time in quite a while about 9 years ago and started from the beginning. since then I've written countless songs living most of life with my head in the clouds considering the poetic nuances of life's ups and downs. As a writer I've been joined by various musicians and done many shows both solo and with a full production in large and small venues from Mr Flacon's to the Metro Theatre. I released an EP in 2012 and full length Album in 2015 with my next solo album in the works. Most recently I've formed a duo with fellow dreamer Peter Fenwick to Form "Cloud Bird". In Cloud Bird Poetry and Folk collide with foot tapping road trip sing a long's entwining guitars, harmonies, girl boy, yin yang, north south, land sea, cloud bird ... Demos are on the way and when they are ready I'll post some up here.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes...anywhere anytime :) I've been playing a lot around Sydney venues of late such as Lazybones Lounge, Mr Falcon's, Corridor, Coogee Bay Digger's the Bunker Bar and of Course my own little burgeoning venue "Red Dog Studio" in Randwick, Sydney
Your musical influences
I've discovered I can find inspiration in the most unlikely places. I love all music delivered with a flare of individuality and honesty...and to be truthful I have plucked ideas from a wide range of material, moulded it, kneaded it again, thrown it out, plucked it back out of the bin, torn pieces off and arrived finally at my current ...growing....body of work. I am constantly seeking and drinking up the world of music...I can't get enough.
What equipment do you use?
Godin, Cole Clarke, Shure, Rhode,....an old banged up nylon string around the fire
Anything else?
If you like the music then my work has found it to the right ears :) Enjoy
