This is the music of the late Larkin Edwards, my dad, a wonderful man who passed away too soon in February 2010. He was a gentle man who was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, who loved bluegrass music with a passion matched by nobody that I ever met. He taught himself to play guitar by ear. As an adult he played with several bands in the Baltimore, MD area during the 60's and 70's.
I recently found an old cassette tape of his from 1987 and thought I would share it with all of you. He would have liked that. Some of these were him recording himself picking. Others were from a day when my dad and I were just picking, and my mom recorded it. There are a lot of flubs, and people laughing and carrying on in the background, and every so often you'll hear my mom, who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, joining in :-)
For anybody that loves good old time bluegrass acoustic picking, you'll enjoy my dad's music. Thank you for stopping by!
My dad used to play live with the Blue Ridge Mountaineers in the Baltimore area in the 60's and 70's.
