BLUEGRASS UNLIMITED called Goin' South "an enjoyable and satisfying listening experience... the Bashful's mix harmonies as if they were the seasoning in a masterfully flavored entree." Band/artist history
The Bashful Brothers was formed in 1993 with Rick Pickren, Jerry Eliason and Peter Seman. They spent eight fruitful years playing the Sunday Bluegrass Brunch at The Blackhawk Lodge. Many celebrities enjoyed brunch with the Brothers including Oprah Winfrey, Steve Guttenberg and Yoko Ono. The current lineup: * Lead singer, guitarist, bouzouki and banjo player Rick Pickren is an original member of the Broadway musical Pump Boys & Dinettes. He has shared the stage with George Strait, Rodney Crowell, Merle Haggard, and Steve Earle. When not pickin' and singin', Rick stays busy as an actor. You may have seen him in Major League, While you were Sleeping, The Untouchables or in tv commercials for The Hartford AARP or First USA Visa. * Tom Boyd hails from the hills of southern Ohio. He plays dobro, banjo and sings tenor. Tom is also a member of The Dry Branch Fire Squad; one of America's finest bluegrass bands. When not on the road, he can be found pickin' with the Bashful Brothers. * Mandolinist Drew Carson is a former member of Special Consensus. Drew's steady and true mandolin playing is featured on two of their nationally known recordings. Drew is also a widely respected authority on vintage guitars and mandolins. * Bassist Malcolm Ruhl is also an original member of, and musical director of Pump Boys & Dinettes. Malcolm is a talented multi-instrumentalist, theatre music director and much sought after arranger. In Branson, Missouri he performed in Pump Boys & Dinettes and played bass for The Osmond Brothers and the Lennon Brothers.
