Something" - Being in a funk-rock band I could definitely appreciate the WAH pedal intro, it was a nice touch. This is definitely rockin' stuff. I like how the WAH sound remains in the background of the whole song. I think your drum sounds could be made a little clearer. Whenever the crash symbol is hit it doesn't sound very clean. Perhaps this is the sound you wanted to go for, I dont know. The vocals remind me a great deal of the Beatles. Good all around.
Circle of Friends
LOVED your stuff! Took a listen at least in part to every song, even your covers were good! (I'm not usually a fan of covers, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but you guys did a great job of putting on a pretty slipcover! =)
Really enjoyed 18 and Disposable Society, have to say those were my faves. Great mixes, can tell you guys honed your craft. Keep up the good work!

Well, to start off I liked your pic. on your site with the acoustic guitar sitting alone around the amps. As a guitar player it is like a memory pic of seeing your grandma smiling in a pic. who left this place years ago. T'was nice. I think "something" is your best song on the site. I was suprised at how good the vocals were on that song. I thought they were much better than on any of the other songs (not that they were bad). It's hard to find good vocals on Mp3.com Also, I liked your bass player. Not in a way that he was flashy and great but he did just enough and didn't try to over do the music. which with the type of music you are playing could destroy the song.

Ricky Boy - Circle Of Friends / 18
This artist picture is a dead giveaway as to what kind of "circle" of friends these guys really are.
They look guilty as fuck! This pic reminds me of the time I walked in on my uncles when they were right in the middle of a circle jerk. To those of you who dont know what a circle jerk is, I'll explain. Hmmm....How can I put this delicately? A circle jerk is when you have three or four good friends (or uncles in my case) sitting around jerking off. Bets are placed before hand. The first guy to blow his load, wins the jackpot. In this case, it seems like the dude on the left blew first, since hes allready got something else in his hands, the dude on the right is still cleaning remnants from his stache (nice shot, by the way!) & the guy in the middle isnt quite finished yet. Which definitely makes him the ladies man of the group.
The guitarist in this band actually had a living cactus surgically attached to his strumming hand, as you can plainly see. He feels this gives him a more "natural" right hand attack. He named his last two bands, "Edward Cactus Hand" & "The Prickly Pears" for obvious reasons. Now, you can still circle jerk with a cactus hand, but only if you do it VERY CAREFULLY! Its something I dont advise. This man is obviously a professional, so dont fuck around with cactai, kids! This song pulses throughout with some heavy ass bottom end. I like the vocals, but they could come up in the mix a little more. I wouldve also added a more healthier snare sound. To me, the snare sounds a bit thin in regard to the bass / kick drum. Nice bass runs towards the end of the song. I wouldve liked to hear more of them. I'd also make the fade out longer. All in all, a catchy tune. A catchy, "throbbing" circle jerk gem.
I chose to listen to It's Still Your Life because of the genre - progressive rock. I wanted to see how you'd pull it off. Well, did you ever! Really great guitar sounds. Tight drums, bass and excellent vocals. The lyrics are very inspirational and something we must all remind ourselves of every day. The double octave vocals give it a nice edge. I really liked the ending on "Live It". Very appropriate indeed. I'm gonna have to come back and listen to some more!
Ricky, I've always dug your smooth folks stylings and your rich harmonies are among the best on MP3.com. Obviously our flagship synth-based stuff may be a stretch. That's why I'd probably either suggest You and I which is a CD of all of our ballads and love songs or Edge which is our edgier stuff, many of the tracks including actual guitar work layered over the electronica.
We play only in the concert setting.. but would entertain any opportunity to play for the fans.
