I just like playing around with music. Im nothing high tech, just plain and simple.I like editing music on the computer.I have a Roland RS-5,an Epiphone 6 string, and an old Hammond BV and Leslie.
I use a program called Ntrack for recording.Plus a pawn shop bass guitar.
Thats it.
I like all kinds of music. Most favorite is the old Rock and roll stuff, like Chuck Barry.
No real band INVALID started off singing at age 4 or so.Then played Steel guitar(9yrs old) till age 13.From Steel guitar i went to Electric(rhythem, all I ever wanted to do anyway was play rhythm and sing). At age 19 I went to the Hammond organ and stayed with that.I like sitting on the bench playing the organ then fronting with a guitar..
No live gigs on this solo part.i play with another band for that stuff. And yes its fun except for lugging the equipment and late night thing.Id rather do parties and weddings.
Musical influences were and are Elvis,The Beatles,Grand Funk Railroad,Heart,Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson,Chuck Berry,Littl Richard,Rage against the Machine(go figure)as well as all the people Ive played with over the last 45 years.
Equipment was mentioned above.
The great thing about the internet is musicians can put their music out there without going thru alot of hoops and tape sending and all that stuff.Plus the music is protected easier with the net.(some people will debate that one)
Ive had the pleasure to meet a lot of different folks out there(musicians)thanks to music. All kinds..
As for me,do I think Im good.Nah,the only thing I think is the fact I like playing.Im not into the competition crap with others.Who would I be to say if someone is good or bad.More like do I like their music or not.
A good friend of mine a couple of years ago taught me a phrase called Poetic Justice.I like that.Another friend of mine taught me,"if you wanted to,you would be"(both musicians)
I dont like playing cover stuff all the time.Id rather be in an original band.If your music can get um up on the dance floor, you have something good happening. How many times can one paint the Mona Lisa?(1 time, the right way)But I understand bar patrons like to hear familiar music.
Plus with the covers,I didnt have the drive and time to learn them note for note.
Rock and Roll.
