Band/artist history
When the eigth day god created rock, LaughingSkull was the furthest from its mind. At the age of seven he (LS) was put in music school to learn piano, but was feeling rebellious already and demanded to study violin. It was just for being spiteful to his parents, so this affair proved to be horrible for all parties, and finally his teacher refused to go on. The parents were adamant that he needed musical education, so finally he was forced to choose another instrument and began to study classical guitar. At the time he discovered bands like Pink Floyd, Queen and Deep Purple but the knowledge obtained at music school was unsuitable for playing rock. Thus he became increasingly frustrated by learning music in which he has no interest, and being unable to play music he liked. After finishing the basic music course, he quit classical and bought electric guitar. Being too lazy and not persistent enough, he finally decided that he is not prepared to invest the time again to learn to play rock. And quit, again. In the happilly ever after, there was some growing up to do. Going to various schools. Falling in love. Having heart broken from time to time (dynamic anathomy is healthy). Attend some parties. Going to work. Getting married. Watching kids grow up. And much more of the things life is constituted from. Listening to music. Rock exchanged for jazz. Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny and John Abercrombie new musical heroes. While not active anymore, LS remained enthusiastic music lover, collector of albums, and visitor of concerts. And music was still playing in his head. From time to time he wrote down some of the ideas, which would later be discovered in forms of wrinkled pieces of paper. With cursory, undetailed notation. The wish to create music was still kindling somewhere deep below. Waiting for the right breeze. Lyme disease/neuroborreliosis was contracted somewhere in the happilly ever after period and cannot really be avoided as a chapter. It became both the major force for musical reactivation and predominant theme of compositions. There was just an urge in the beginning. To play, to improvise. There was so much to learn. So many feeelings to express. 'I listened to jazz for more than a decade. So I started with jazz handbooks, jazz progressions, jazz improvisation; but slowly some dark force crawled into my playing. Without realizing I turned to the "Dark Side". I basically began to play metal first, then started to listen to it.' Not wanted to submit his creativity to the rules of any genre, the music began to grow which was fusion of harmonic freedom of jazz, emotional freedom of metal and 'I'll do what I wan't" attitude of rock. The foundations of LaughingSkull was built. An entity which aswers to no one. Neuroborreliosis reached its peak at the time and the songwriting reflecting its progression. The jams took shape, excercises abandoned for the focused compositions. First pieces were uploaded to SoundClick and the feedback was appreciative. 'Knowing that other people will listen to this, made me even more determined to make it as best I could at that moment.' The mail from AMAdea records made all the difference. Thirteen (always a lucky number) pieces were selected and in the beginning of 2010, debut CD 'Labyrinths Of The Soul' was released. The music was unleashed upon the unsuspecting public.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
No. If I consider relearning all the old songs instead of creating new ones, then I think that LaughingSkull will remain 'dead' band for a while longer.
