Ockham’s Razor is a Seattle based Celtic fusion band that blends influences of Celtic and Irish tradition with rock, pop, gypsy, punk, jazz, bluegrass, and folk elements to carve out a unique and indelible niche in the Celtic folk genre. Hailed as both “Turbo Celtic” and “Ethno Punk,” since 2006 Ockham’s Razor has performed with notable bands like Young Dubliners, Enter the Haggis and Paperboys, and has even performed alongside Irish music luminaries, the Chieftains. With two studio albums and a live album under their belt, their music has been featured on radio and podcasts in places as far flung as India and Australia as well as the US, Canada, and the rest of North America, England, Scotland, Ireland and the rest of Europe. They have been featured on the Portland OR based PDXPosed and Alaska Airline’s In Flight Entertainment Channel, Next Stop. *********
Band/artist history
Ockham's Razor's second album, Ten Thousand Miles to Bedlam, introduced fans to the evolved sound which incorporated acoustic guitar, fiddle, tin whistles, accordion, mandolin, banjo, drum kit, djembe, electric bass and bodhran. The album went on to be named Album of the Week by Scottish Celtic Music Radio in February 2008, included in the CDBaby.com "Beer-Soaked Irish Rock" featured playlist and played on radio stations in Canada, the United States, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Germany. Ockham's Razor continued to gain a large fan base after bringing their "Ethno-Punk" sound to audiences throughout Washington, California, Idaho and Oregon at shows including the Northwest Folklife Festival, Yakima Folklife Festival, Tacoma and Whidbey Island Highland Games, Prosser Scottish Festival and opening slots for The Chieftains, The Paperboys and Enter the Haggis. Between 2006 and the end of 2008, the band perfected their live shows performing over 300 times. 2009 brought the release of a live album called "Live & Well" which captures the excitement of Ockham's Razor's live shows and was followed by the release of their next studio album "Wolves in Walls". Following the release of Wolves, the band went on a 10,000 mile tour circling the United States before taking some time off later that year. Kris Clements brought Ockham's Razor back to the stage in 2013 with Daniel McManus on bass and mandolin, Dan Lile on drums, Thomas Atwell on guitar and Kitty Steetle on fiddle. The band went back into the studio in 2014 to begin working on their new CD due out in October.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Ockham's Razor thrives on the energy their fans produce at their shows. Like an alternator charging a battery, the cycle of energy going from band to audience and back makes every show an event.
