Band/artist history
Born Sharon Kay Rogers on February 7, 1964 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Frank & Claire Rogers. Sharon is the youngest of 5 children. Sharon graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1982. Graduated from Beauty School of Expertise in 1983, and married Terry Brooks in 1983, and in 1984 Sharon and her husband Terry began to have a family. . Sharon is an artist of many faces, and poses many talents. From a very early age Sharon’s love of music, and her natural and unique talent and ability for delivering a song was very obvious to friends & family members around and far away. While growing up Sharon enjoyed the freedom of every opportunity she had to express herself through her music . Her involvement in Glee Club, School plays, Talent Nights, Drama Club, and private voice lessons helped pacify the urge to sing and perform. However, she longed to do something special with her God given talents, become a Nashville recording artist, become famous, but either way take this talent as far as she could. Sharon recants on some of her fondest memories of growing up which involved summer visits to Oklahoma where she and her family would visit Uncles and Aunts & their families, and sing along with all of them who loved to play piano, guitar, and banjo by ear. “I enjoyed this so much, and I don’t think the adults all realized just how much I did enjoy it, or what kind of impression they made on me. Even after she grew to be an adult, Sharon never lost sight of her goals to someday follow this love she had for the music profession, and she bit on every opportunity to express herself through a good Country Song. Geographically it was tough on Sharon cause she lived in Nebraska. She’d sing in every karaoke contest that would promise to put her in touch with a career in Country music. Many dead end leads after another, then she joined the local CMA in Nebraska and showcased hoping someone, anyone would see, hear, or help put her in touch with a record label, and invariably record her and give her the chance she had only dreamed of since she were a very small child. Her chance finally came when a talent scout visiting the Nebraska CMA put her in direct touch in 1999 with Keith Bradford, President and Owner of KMA Records. In 2000 Sharon released her 10 song debut album titled “KMA Presents Sharon Brooks. This debut album did quite well on the charts and perked a lot of attention, it eventually peaked at #4 on the Top 300 chart before declining but is still being played by many DJ’s to date.” Songs released like “I Want To Be A Cowboy’s Sweetheart”, a Patsy Montanna classic, gave Sharon the Nickname of “Nebraska’s Yodeling Sweetheart”, a nickname she carries to this day. “Blanket On The Ground” a Roger Bowling song recorded by Billy Jo Spears 30 years earlier were among the songs released that gained lots of airplay & attention from DJ’s who began to wonder who the heck Sharon Brooks was. Fans all over have also showed their acceptance to Sharon Brooks‘ with her unique style of bringing the best out in a good country song, she made these songs brand new all over again. In May of 2001, Sharon and her husband Terry made a very difficult decision in their lives. Sharon sold her Hair Salon, and Terry put in his notice after working over 20 years with the City of Grand Island in a maintenance 1 position. They packed up their belongings in boxes, and uprooted their family to move to Trenton Georgia, a small community not far from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and just a nice drive from Nashville Tennessee, all just so Sharon could better intensify and achieve success with her music career. She felt at the time that she needed to get closer to to the great music capitol of the world to really succeed. In 2002, Sharon released a second album on KMA Records Titled, “I’ve Been There Too”. Unlike the first album on KMA Records, this album is again very different, and Sharon decided to display a different side of herself to her listening audience. This time as Sharon Brooks the Songwriter, the mother, and friend. She began to write and decided to release 2 of her own original songs , “Under The Silvery Moon” and “The Fool” . On this album she brings to life a song titled “Mommy’s Girl” with her youngest daughter, Deanna Brooks. That songwriter Jean Massengale wrote this song and after failed attempts from another artists, was pitched to Sharon Brooks and her young daughter Deanna. This gave Sharon the unique opportunity to share a piece of her love for music with her own daughter Deanna ( 7 years old at the time). This song remains as of today a special song in the hearts of not only Sharon and Deanna, but in the hearts of every mother and daughter who hears it!!! This album, like the former album “KMA Presents Sharon Brooks” promised to do very well and peak at #17 on the top 300 chart. Sharon's latest project is just being released now, one song at a time to radio, and getting rave reveiws “A Rose Among The Weeds” on Texas Drover Records Vol 2. "I'm Not Lisa" on WHP Vol 40. & "Her Memory Makes Three" on Texas Drover Records Vol 3.
